Social Telephone for the accompaniment and support to the citizenship before COVID-19

Or Telephone (900 400 800) do Voluntariado is strengthened as a Social Telephone for the accompaniment and support of citizens in the face of the coronavirus pandemic

Due to the current health emergency situation, or current volunteer telephone number (900 400 800), dependent on the Ministry of Social Policy, It will also work as a social phone. The aim is to provide accompaniment and support to citizens who need it, prioritizing those calls that warn of situations of vulnerability or social emergency.

The schedule of this service will be from 8.00 a 20.00 hours seven days a week.

The person answering this phone will respond, in a majority way, the following types of calls:

1. People who call to solve basic questions related to COVID-19, just like the phone has been doing 012.

2. People who need specialized psychological support. You will be referred to a professional in this area.

3. People who call to inform about possible cases of special vulnerability and social emergency, be their own or others, which will be analyzed by the Ministry of Social Policy and, to be the case, they will be referred to the council's social services.

4. People to call to volunteer in the coming weeks

The goal is to create a Network of volunteers, coordinated by the Social Policy Council, to provide an answer in two different cases:

As a priority: Telephone monitoring. The staff of the social phone will refer calls to the volunteer people noted in this network, once you have a large number of people, so that they can simply talk to those vulnerable people or those who need it most.

– Support to municipalities and voluntary action entities. In those cases where volunteers prefer to carry out a face-to-face voluntary action activity, The Xunta de Galicia Volunteer Service itself will put the volunteer in contact with the social services of each municipality or with voluntary action entities in each area. Preferably, This collaboration will be carried out through the Spanish Red Cross in Galicia. In any case, You must strictly follow safety and health protocols.
